🌊What A Day At Camp Looks Like
-
- AM: Meet instructor and group, then head to the water for wet exits with spray decks, safety talks, and some review of kayaking skills.
- PM: paint/decorate a foam boat to help with learning over the next days, then head to the lower set for some whitewater kayaking and swimming
-
- AM: Paddle to the lower set in kayaks to learn C/S turns and ferries, discuss river features that allow us to move safely downriver. Use the foam boats to learn more about whitewater features and hazards and build different features while exploring their differences for paddling and safety
- PM: Paddle to the lower set for some more practice of C/S turns, as well as ferries. Swimming, kayaking and fun in boats
-
- AM: Jessup’s chute for a level up of day 2. More c/s turns, ferries and river navigation in slightly harder whitewater, with focus on eddy hopping down the rapids. Run lower set choosing lines and hitting eddies going downstream.
- PM: At the Co-op for tie dye, then flatwater session for some games and more skills in boats.
-
- AM: Jessup’s chute to challenge our paddling and swimming skills. Intro to surfing and jet ferries, and swim throughs of the chute
- PM: Finish the week off with the paddlers choice of kayak games, Jessup’s laps, or lower set fun, then back to the co-op for report cards and awards
